Yeah. We know there are a ton of burger joints out there. And yes kids, we know all about Millennial Burger. So much so, that we started our very own Millennial Burger Fan Club. But we’ve been at this for the last 15 years and we are obviously a little biased. We think our burgers are kind of a big deal.
We conceptualized what would become Urban Stack Burger Lounge waaay back in 2007 when we were working on the idea for Taco Mamacita. What can we say, we were young and having fun. Of course, burgers and tacos were our favorite meals. We decided to open Taco Mamacita in 2008 in the Town & Country Shopping center in Northshore. The idea for “the burger joint” was always still looming in the background. When we saw that the old Southern Railway Baggage Building (circa 1867), a.k.a. the oldest freestanding building in Downtown Chattanooga had become vacant, we couldn’t resist. So, in 2011, Urban Stack was born. Acquiring the building actually happened before we named Urban Stack, hence the use of the word “stack”. Bricks and burgers both get “stacked” – it was an easy choice. At the time, Mike and Taylor had a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old at home. You better believe that burgers were exclusively being served at ALL the parties, sleepovers and playdates during the year leading up to the Urban Stack opening.
When we decided to open Urban Stack, we set out to do three things.
Serve the most unique, juicy, well-crafted burgers we know how to make – everything made fresh, to order with the best ingredients we can get our hands on.
Honor the oldest freestanding building in downtown Chattanooga by giving it a new life as not only a restaurant, but a LEED Silver Certified building at that.
Support local when we can by using bread, produce and proteins that are made or raised in our neck of the woods.
We hope you will find that we have stayed true to our mission and are still delivering on these promises along with the promise of showing our guests what we like to call Legendary Customer Service when you are greeted by our team at the front door of our 150-year-old building. If we’ve cleaned the floors well enough, you can still see the original river stones that were used in the concrete floor around our host stand when the building was originally built back in 1867. Pretty cool if you ask us. Hopefully you will visit us for the best burger in Downtown Chattanooga, but while you’re here, experience a piece of Chattanooga architectural history while you dine.
